Robert McCune, President
Prior to joining Superior Marine, Bob had 10 years experience in the design and construction of towboats and other related marine construction. Bob began his career at Superior Marine in 1981. During his service he has held several positions including: Engineering and fabrication manager, towboat construction, transportation manager, harbor services and barge cleaning; and Vice President of Operations. Robert was named president of the company in March of 2005 and continues to serve in that capacity.
Jeff Irby, Vice President of Transportation
Jeff began his career in 1977 at Economy Barge Repair (Superior Marine) having various duties ranging from laborer, to deckhand and then foreman. He shifted to decking on September 1, 1983 and worked on various boats for Superior. He acquired his pilot’s license in March 1985 & worked on the RH Beymer as pilot until 1991 when he was promoted to transportation manager. Jeff was promoted to Vice President of Transportation in 2001 where he continues to serve, working with the current management team on new & existing projects.
Michael Manns, Chief Financial Officer
Michael Manns is a graduate of Marshall University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration-Accounting. During college, Michael held several positions including, dispatcher, cleaning crew and deckhand. After college, Michael joined Superior Marine fulltime in the fall of 1991 where he managed legal issues, banking matters and environmental concerns. In 1997, Michael began his own construction company. He began work on a mixed-use development in early 2001 at which time he was involved in bringing in several grants and building community support for a multi-million dollar TIF agreement that will help fund infrastructure costs. He returned to his fulltime duties at Superior in 2002 as Chief Financial Officer, where he continues to serve today.
Matt Manns, Vice President of Operations
Matthew graduated from Marshall University and began his career at Superior Marine in 1995. During his employment at Superior, Matt has held several positions including: general laborer, cleaning crew, deckhand, assistant port engineer, maintenance supervisor, assistant transportation manager, and barge repair supervisor. Matt currently holds the position of Vice President of Operations, handling barge and boat repairs and scheduling, employee hiring and retention programs.
Frank Kiser, Director Environment, Health and Safety
Frank joined Superior Marine in 2010 bringing over 42 years of experience in the marine industry He started as a deckhand for Ashland Oil in 1969, then working into the gas free facility and barge cleaning for 21 years. He moved into barge maintenance and safety in 1990. After 2 years he moved into environmental health and safety and continued to work in that position until he retired from Marathon / Ashland in 2005.
Frank has continued working in EH&S for various companies since retireing. He is a third party auditor with the AWO and has held a Merchant Marine document for over 30 years. Frank is an instructor for the American Red Cross and holds an associate degree from UK.
Frank currently holds the position of Director Environment, Health & Safety with responsiblity for all Environmental, Health & Safety issues at Superior.
